Editor Ellen Ann Fentress is a native of Greenwood, Mississippi, where she graduated from Pillow Academy. As a Mississippi journalist, she has reported for the Sun Herald, Mississippi Public Broadcasting, the Capitol Reporter, the New York Times, Reuters and Time magazine. Her work has also appeared in The Atlantic, Oxford American, The Bitter Southerner and The Baffler. She produced and directed the documentary film Eyes on Mississippi on iconic journalist Bill Minor.

Project advisor and scholar Dave Tell is Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Kansas. He is the author of Confessional Crises and Cultural Politics in Twentieth Century America (Penn State University Press, 2012) and Remembering Emmett Till (University of Chicago Press, 2019). He is a former fellow of the National Endowment for the Humanities and a co-director of the Emmett Till Memory Project in Sumner, Mississippi. His writing on the Till murder has been published in the Chicago Tribune, Atlantic Monthly, LitHub, The Conversation, and academic journals. He is a past president of the American Society for the History of Rhetoric and the inaugural Public Humanities Officer for the Rhetoric Society of America.

Talamieka Brice (Website builder) is an award-winning artist, photographer and visual storyteller, Drawing inspiration from Maya Angelou and her hometown of Kilmichael, Miss., Brice is a force to be reckoned with, combining her point of view and her wicked design skills. Brice is the wife of a veteran, the mother to Honor and Love.
